*Pastor Richard Kent Martin*

Pastor Richard Kent Martin serves The First Presbyterian of Humboldt and our congregation in Falls City.  He is working on his Masters in Divinity from the Saint Paul School of Theology.  Prior to this, he attended the Dubuque Theological Seminary in Dubuque, Iowa.  Pastor Rick states “The exercise of discernment in the understanding of God's Will has truly been life changing for me.  I was raised in the Presbyterian Church and baptized my children here.  Today, I know what it means to be a Happy Presbyterian.  I am grateful to be working with the congregations of First Presbyterian Church of Falls City and First Presbyterian Church of Humboldt. Growing up in this Church, I have wonderful memories.  Each memory adds to the fabric we call life.  A life appreciated and greatly loved by God, shown to us in the life of Jesus Christ.”

“These memories help shape us to be the individuals we are meant to be.  Each adds a bit of vibrancy to our own personal canvas of art.  Such memories or vibrant colors to my own canvas of art, are in the many reflections of the times in getting to know these wonderful congregations and this community.”

Pastor Rick, served on the Committee of Nominations within Homestead Presbytery.  He is a native of Falls City and is the youngest son of the late Virgil and Mary Elizabeth Martin.  He is a single father of two and a proud grandfather of five.  Pastor Rick graduated from the University of Nebraska-Lincoln with a degree in political science, economics and business management.  He attended graduate school at the University of Dallas.  Prior to his return to Nebraska in 2007, he was President and CEO of RKM Partners In Trust, Inc., formed in response to his desire to fully service his clients, not only their insurance needs but in all corporate service areas.  His insurance career began in 1980 with the Travelers Insurance Co.  While there, he built a successful track record and was frequently recognized for his sales and management accomplishments.  In 1987, he joined the employee benefits division of John Burnham & Company.

In 1988, Pastor Rick purchased a large multi-line insurance agency in Lincoln.  He quickly made substantial increases in the agency’s market share and premium volume.  Subsequently, he sold the agency in 1990 and returned to Burnham, where he remained until creating his own company in July of 1994.  He has authored several employee benefit articles in The San Diego Business Journal and the San Diego Daily Transcript.

In his spare time, Pastor Rick has a passion for raising Great Danes and developing the best in canine nutrition for his Great Danes.  At the Great Dane Nationals in Tulsa, Oklahoma in October 2016, His “Master Coffee” won the Open Black Category.  His Nyia’s Magic Great Dane Kennels has produced several National and International Champions.
